A Michigander her entire life, Katy planted Ferndale roots in 2001 where she still lives with her husband, pre-teen daughter and their terrier mix rescue dog, Ginger. Katy’s family was inspired to adopt Ginger in January of this year because she was having such a great time walking your dogs and getting to know them through the Loyal Dog Club! In addition to taking care of her own family, Katy has also welcomed three exchange students into her home over the last six years, hailing from Japan, Germany and Hungary!

To simply say Katy is an impressive and cultured human being would be an understatement! She is an avid book lover who reads constantly. Her favorite book is The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell – and she is obsessed with discussing his intertwined work with anyone who is willing! Her love of books and words is transcendent enough that it prompted her to start her own business back in 2008 where she writes book indexes and does proofreading for her clients. She still maintains Hawkeye Indexing & Editing Services while working here at LDC!

Not only is Katy a mom, business owner, travel host and dog walker extraordinaire, she is also a volunteer! She volunteers at a number of organizations, but her passion focus at the moment is voting access. Right now, she wants to encourage you to register to vote, make a specific plan to vote, and vote early if you can! ✅

At Loyal Dog Club, we pride ourselves on making sure that your pets are taken care of by the best people we can find – and Katy definitely fits the qualification! We are so happy to have her as a part of our team and excited to share more about her personality and hobbies with you! Because we can’t get enough of Katy (and don’t think you should either!) we are thrilled to announce her as the newest addition to our After Hours/Weekend crew!
